“To be born Welsh is to be born privileged. Not with a silver spoon in your mouth, but music in your blood and poetry in your soul…” - Brian Harris
A proud Welshwoman, devoted partner and lifelong champion of education, Beryl R. Colbourn built community and inspired others wherever life took her. Her legacy lives on through UCF study abroad scholarships that open doors to transformative learning experiences around the world.
Throughout her life, Beryl was active in civic and charitable organizations and embraced opportunities to learn, serve and connect with others. She also played an important role in supporting the academic career of her late husband, Trevor Colbourn, UCF's second president. A founding member of UCF's Town & Gown Council and a member of the UCF Women's Club Hall of Fame, Beryl leaves a legacy of curiosity and compassion.
The Beryl R. Colbourn Study Abroad Endowed Fund reflects these values as well as her unwavering belief in the power of education. By helping students experience new cultures, broaden their perspectives and engage with the world, the fund ensures that Beryl's adventurous spirit and commitment to global citizenship will continue to inspire future generations.
